Hey Guys,

I was wondering if it's possible to just buy a mk9 slide, barrel, and recoil rod, and mount it on a p9 covert lower (after trimming the front length of the frame to match the nose length?

Has anyone that owns both tried working the upper on the p9covert lower?

I guess i'm torn between getting a mk9, p9covert, or just waiting till summer for the new mp9.

I would prefer the size of the mk9 for use on an ankle holster. but i don't know if the weight is too much for using with a Belly Band type holster while doing morning runs etc.

anyone with experience with this? thanks

You cannot mount the K series upper to the P series lower. They're different. There's a second set of "rails" on the P series. The barrels are different too.

As for carry, I like my P40, but I do want an MP9 when they're offered as well. My wife's MK9 fits well in my pocket, but it's a bit heavy. I think the MP9 will be a good replacement for my Kel-Tec P32. I know the Kahr will be twice the weight, and a little bigger all around, but I normally carry the P32 in an ankle holster, and I can't imagine the MP9 being noticed. The P32 is almost too small for me personally. I can only get one finger on the grip.

Oh yeah, one more thing. If you're not going to be happy with the P9 covert, if you're gonna regret having it when the MP9 comes out, I'd say either wait, or buy the P9, then save for the MP9 when it's available as a backup. You'd have an IWB primary and ankle or pocket backup with interchangeable mags.

For me, the P9 covert is the worst of both worlds. If I gotta put up with that short two fingered grip, I want as short a slide and as light a weight as possible.

... i don't know if the weight is too much for using with a Belly Band type holster while doing morning runs etc.

I have run with my Steyr M40 in a belly band with no problems so I imagine the Kahr MK9 would be fine.

Steyr M40
Width: Width 1.18"
Length: 7.05"
Height: 5.03"
Weight: 28 oz.

Kahr MK9
Width: .90"
Length: 5.3"
Height: 4.0"
Weight: Pistol 22.1 oz.

The P9 Covert is only .7 inches longer and 7.1oz more then the MK9, so I doubt the MP9 is going to be all that much less weight.

I keep hearing people say the all-steel Kahrs are heavy, but frankly I think the weight is overblown as a problem (BTW, a Glock 26 is only slightly over 2 ounces lighter the the Kahr MK9).

MK9 Weight

I'm a little confused by this MK9 weight issue. My MK weighs about the same as my S&W mod 60. I don't find either one too heavy for the purpose.

Duh, what's an "MP9"

I've inspected the entire Kahr line and like what I see. The MK9 weighs in at 23 oz empty but it is my favorite of the group. Please Tell me; is an MP9 the same size as the MK9, only with the polymer frame? I'm really curious. The only thing keeping me from going right out and buying the MK9 is the rather heavy weight for pocket carry.
