Kahr owners:Did I read that a MK9 recoil spring has to be relpaced every "x" rounds?

Seems like I read somewhere that a MK9 recoil spring had to be replaced every 3000 rounds or something like that?

Is that true?

Thanks,
JP

Well, you could. I find that there isn't that much felt recoil in the MK9. It's a bit more than my K9, but not unpleasant. My K40 IS unpleasant, but not my MK9.

Yes, if I purchase one, I would plan on shooting it quite a bit.
I like to shoot, and I feel that you should be very proficient with a gun that you may have to use to defend yourself.

Apparently I was mistaken about replacing the recoil spring.
Thanks all.

I have shot the little Kahr MK9 several times, and I find it delightful to shoot...for about 50 rounds.

After 50 or so firings, the little gun seems to take a bite out of my thumb.

However, I would expect that in the event of using the MK9 for personal defense, one would consider the following:

* If you need to shoot more than 50 rounds in a personal defense situation, you are probably already dead and that little thumb bite isn't your biggest concern.

* If you escape any self defense situation with only a very minor flesh wound on your thumb, consider yourself very lucky.

My MK has about 2k through it and the lock up is not as affirmative as I would like so I'm going to be replacing the recoil spring set (probably with Wolff).

So I would say "Yes". The recoil spring should probably be replaced every 3k or sooner. It certianly cannot hurt.

WRT the unpleasantness factor.....I wouldent hesitate to take the MK to a high volume training session. Its bark is no worse than anything else I shoot/carry.

To each his own...I just figure if I am going to shoot thousands of rounds, I'd rather do it in a full-size gun, or my favorite, a .22 LR. And if I had to shoot a gun 3000 times to be proficient with it, I think I'd pick another gun...or maybe a big stick! Just my opinion-don't wan't to start a squabble.

HEY GUYS:GUNNUTS HERE,I replace my recoilsprings every 1500 rounds in ALL my autos, with wolff's springs, jusy my 2 cents.
