I have had a Kahr MK9 Elite 98 for several months now and have not gotten around to shooting it until today. Let me just say that I am impressed. I generally don't like small autos because of their lack of hand filling feel. I only fired 75 rounds through it, because that is all I brought. Had I known how well it was going to shoot, I probably would have brought 50 to 100 more. The first 25 rounds were fired for accuracy. Up close (inside 7 yards) the group was smaller than the top of a 35mm film container. At about 15 yards the group opened up to about the size of a coke can. And out to 25 yards all shots were inside about an 8" circle. The larger group as I backed up was as a result of the shooter (me) and the short sight radius, not the accuracy potential of the gun. The next 50 rounds were fired rapid fire at steel plates and steel knock downs. Quick follow up shots were easy despite the gun's abbreviated size. I fired it with both the 6 round flush mag and the 7 round extended mag that came with it. 75 rounds...100% reliable...fresh out of the box.
I am a believer in carrying a full size gun when feasible and generally carry a 1911 .45 ACP. I have a love affair with my S&W J frame .38 Special Bodyguards (Models 638 and 649) and routinely carry one as a backup on my ankle in an Alessi ankle holster. I intend to shoot a few more boxes of ammo through the MK9. If it continues to impress me, I may just be ordering an Alessi ankle holster for it and give it a shot at the title for preferred backup gun.
