Kahr Mk40 upgrades

Ready to buy a Mk40, and am considering a few upgrades right out of the blocks:

1) SS recoil spring guide
2) Night sights
3) 'Improved / shortened' trigger - the 98 version

For those of you that have or currently own one of these Mighty-Mini's, are these worthwile additions to buy at first, or would you recommend adding them on later? In other words, is the 'standard' version just fine out of the box, or are the above upgrades just over kill?

Mine came with night sights so that is a moot point. Every firearm I carry has some type of night sight. I personally enjoy a nice set of wood grips on a semiauto so I ordered a set of them from Kahr just the other day. I only wish Houge would start selling them direct so we could get a better wood selection.
As far as stainless guide rods I have had no problems with the standard one but common sense would favor one made of stainless steel.
The again my trigger seems just fine to me and I shot my MK40 just as well as I do my P229 Sig if I take the time to aim carefully.

MY MK-9 is bone stock, and I love it.

I like the standard trigger.

I will eventually put nite sites on it, But I like the standard set up alot.

If you are ordering it new I would get it with the nite sites, You will save your self atleast $50 or $60.00 if not more with shipping, installation etc.

The only other mod. I will do is get wood grips, only for apperance as the hard polimer grips are very good.

riddle, I almost ordered wood grips from kahr the other day, did you order smooth or checkered? I would love to see a pic when you put them on.
I wonder if kahr sell hex or allen head grip screws..

I too wish Houge would make some grips for Kahr. I have an MK40 and am very happy with the trigger. I did put 24.5# springs in it and shooting Cor-Bon 135 isn't bad at all. I want nite sights but that will wait. I want a duck lease better.

Night sights and checkered wooden grips from Kahr. The grips add just a bit of width, and spread to recoil out on your palm a bit better. They also look great. I'm reluctant to change the guide rod, as I understand there is some smith work required, and the plastic seems to work just fine. Super gun! Gary

I put Ashley Big Dot Tritium sights on my K40. I like them a lot - fast acquisition and accurate enough at combat shooting distance. I've used them at IDPA matches out to 25yds.

gdhillard:

The ones from Kahr may require smith work, the ones from Wolfe DROP IN with no modifcation needed.

took about 2 minutes to do.
