Kahr magazine

I have a CM9 and I don't like how the mags don't fall out without pulling them out. I noticed that the inside of the mag well has four polymer rails that I think hold the magazine tight. I was wondering if I could remove or lower those rails with a file and not do any other damage.

When I press the mag release button, they move just a little bit, if at all, then I have to pull them the rest of the way out.

Is the gun brand new? Maybe a little break-in will smooth out those internal polymer ribs so the mags drop free.

Also, is the gun being held more-or less vertically? The Kahr mags don't shoot out with a lot of spring tension, but they will generally drop free with gravity.

I ended up lightly sanding the inside of the mag well and smoothed out the four ridges that hold the magazine. Now they fall out like I feel that they should.

That would be my answer as well.

Modified my Mag release

My mags would not drop out either. Upon inspection I noticed that the catch on mag release was applying pressure on the mags. Even when depressed all the way the mag release catch was protruding in to the mag well just a bit. I took out the mag release and removed the tiniest bit of material until it would be fully recessed when depressed. There is still plenty to hold the mags in place but they now drop out without having to pull them out or having to push extra hard on the release itself. While researching tight Kahr mags a saw multiple occasions of the opposite situation of having mags fall out during firing, so I went very slowly to prevent going too far. I used my craft sander with 400 grit and then polished it up on the buffer wheel.

I carry a PM9, and the same thing occurs, even though it is supposedly a higher end version of the CW. I've never thought about it though, since I don't carry a spare mag. But it's only a light contact, so the sanding would probably be the best solution and I don't think yours will have any issues after having done so.
