Kahr Magazine falling out

After about four hundred rounds of reliable use, my Mk40 has decided it needs to release the mag now every few shots. It seems I heard of this before but didn't find it in a search. Has anyone heard of this or know the fix. The magazines are seating fully when inserted. Needs a more powerfull magazine release spring maybe?

No, checked that first thing. It happened several times when I made sure made sure fingers or thumbs were not even touching the release. That was my first thought though too.

Replace the mag release spring and mag release itself, in that order. You can get them from Kahr. Unless the mag itself is damaged or worn out its all it can be.

sounds familiar

My Kahr started dropping mags after 'bout 50 rounds - retainer broken - dealer fixed it on the spot.

I don't own it anymore - also had 35+ jams inside 200 rounds. Range owner stovepiped it in 4 rounds - got me off the hook with respect to the old "limp wrist" jive (for about 90 seconds).

Sent back to factory, had one ftf with the new one at 25 rounds - traded even for a Ruger P97. After the poor first impression, I advised my dealer that one misfeed for any reason within 250 rounds was cause for dismissal. I'd already done the "250 round break-in" with the first one with no joy and wasn't going to go through that again. I realize Kahr is an excellent product but everyone gets a lemon once in a while. Mine was one of those - trigger pin "walked", no reliability whatsoever and started off with a broken mag latch. All this on an early P40.

I haven't been back into shooting for that long - I believed the "limp wrist" hoowee even though I'd burned (not much by TFL standards) 1200 rounds between the Glock 21, Ruger P97 and Sig P230 - not to mention 150 or so rounds through a rental K40 - all without even one hiccup.

150 rounds K40, 0 hiccups vs P40 couldn't make it through (either) magazine without screwing up at least once.

"Limp wrist" = Lame A$$ BS excuse so a dealer doesn't have to deal with a problem. I mean, what happened to my wrist between the K40 and the P40? Bones dissolved, maybe? The damn thing screwed up in a Ransom rest for cryin out loud. Sorry about the rant - I just don't think I should have to glue trigger pins and duct tape magazines on a new $500.00 pistol. I know my Kahr was the exception - I'm not upset with Kahr or my dealer - I'm PO'd with myself for believing that crab dance. If a pistol needs a handball glove, or a chain mail gauntlet AND locked elbows and wrist, to be 70% reliable what the he!! was I thinking? This thing might need fired firing from retention!? No chance there... Would've been better off stripping it at the house and using the slide for a yawara stick.

Oopps, oh yeah, the topic...
The mag catch occasionally evacuates - it's easily dealt with - no, you are likely not hitting the release.

Regards from the newbie lurker....

My K9 had too light a mag release spring. I replaced the spring with a standard 1911 release spring, and no problems since.

Well it works fine now. Ran 100 rounds, no problem.
the catch shows no wear but I did replace the spring with one from a colt as suggested by riddleofsteel. That was it. And I don't have to wait for 2 weeks for Kahr to send one. Much stronger spring. Thanks for the suggestion. I'll be leaving this in instead of a new one from Kahr so I don't have to worry about failure again.
