Kahr K9

I was out pawn shopping this morning and found a, like new, Kahr K-9 in stainless.

I traded a stainless 4" Ruger GP-100, straight up, for it. I haven't had a chance to shoot it, but I'm expecting good things.

I do like the action, since it's very similar to my Glocks.

How was your morning? :D

9x19, I congratulate you if you are happy with your trade. I have no problem with what you got, I don't like what you had to give up. I like the stainless GP 100 that well. Hopefully, there is another GP 100 out there with your name on it. Best and regards, Richard.

I think the K9 has one of the smoothest DAO trigger out there, and you've reminded me that I need to go shoot mine again. Being a compact gun, the K9 kicks harder than a CZ-75, but I don't mind the recoil and, besides, the grip is very comfortable. Your trade was pretty honest, but it's a pity you had to let that GP-100 go...

Based on the prices of GPs in my area, you likely MADE OUT on that deal. What you gave up in horsepower, you gained in handling and manueverability. Plus, you won't need as large of a garage in order to park the new Khar. :)

Richard, et al

I won't miss the GP100. While a serviceable side arm, it just couldn't hold a candle to my 3" 686. I plan to fill the empty hook on my wall with a 3" SP101 in 9mm.

The Kahr will go nicely with my other pistols, I believe. It is replacing an E9 whose blued slide finish was just too fragile for my tastes.

9x19,

I have never owned a Ruger GP100 but I have shoot some that belonged to friends and I have always been impressed. From what I could do with a GP100 it will hold its own with a S&W 586/686 or my Dan Wesson. I know that ShallCarry owns a 6" 686 and prefers it.

I am also very impressed with my Kahr E9. After a shaky start and firing 200 rounds through it is now flawless. I would not be afraid to rely on the E9. I agree about the finish and I have it in mind to have my E9 hard chromed when it gets really bad.

Best to you and regards,

Richard

Richard,

No complaints with the Ruger's accuracy but the GP100 lacked the sweet balance and handling that the 3" barrel on my 686 provides. Of course the trigger is much nicer, from the box, on the 686 as well.
