After hearing and discussing Kahrs with the folks here, I decided to buy one. Not the MK9 I was looking at, but the K9. People were not really as enthusiastic about the MK9, it seemed. Got a used (barely) E-nickle one from Gunsamerica. First impression: Heavy, but built like a bank vault. Smooth where it should be, square where it should be. Looks like quality machinery, the finish is good, slippery stuff. Sights-bar dot, a new thing for me, but the way they are shaped makes them function like Novaks-very crisp sight picture. Feels natural in the hand and points well as expected based on trying one out.
Used a "make do" holster. With a good one, it will carry and conceal better than my 3914, even with weight. I will try ISP and see if I can make it work with this gun, never have been able to before. I was disappointed it won't fit in my Bianchi fanny pack, too tall. May wind up getting a MK after all, I wanted something with more pop than my 642 for that type of carry.
Shooting: 100 rds. S&B ball, no problem. VERY easy to shoot small groups, easier than 3914 to make 25 yard silhouette head shots, don't know exactly why. The trigger MUST be handled like a revolver trigger to get best accuracy....no staging. Recoil/muzzle rise minimal, no more blast than with 4 inch 5904. With unsighted fire, POI is different than with S&W's, will work more on this as time allows. PROBLEM: 147 Gold Dots failed to feed every 3rd or 4th round, seemed to hang up on very first part of ramp. Gun may have been a bit dirty and may need some more breaking in. If not, feed ramp polish from local smith and\or switch to load with shorter OAL, maybe 115 or 124 GDHP. I prefer 147's, and don't wish to do that. Anybody have input on this? Summary: So far, MAN I like this gun, it is so "shootable." The bullets all go into such small groups. I think I'll do some more formal accuracy testing against the 3914.
