Kahr K40 - The Final Call

After looking at the Beretta 96 Vertec, all Kahrs and some other related things I've concluded with the Kahr K40 (to hang out with a Sig P229). Thumbs up? I'm just checking for one final round of input because of the process for purchasing in New Jersey makes me want to get it right the first time (since we can't get our elections right the first time [or second, ect.]). Maybe we'll be able to join the other 49 states one day. The deli's and beaches are great, though.

Jump on it...its an excellent gun. Its my primary carry gun...with the SP as a back up. Great feel, function, size and quite accurate for what it is....a defensive gun. You cant to wrong IMO.
Shoot well

Wilson K40

Has anyone seen one of the K40's that Wilson worked for Kahr? I saw one lightly used in a store on consignment and could not put it down. I'm rarely so enraptured, but I couldn't stop thinking about it for a week. It had a brushed stainless frame, had whatever high-tech black finish Wilson uses on the slide, checkered frontstrap, some other doodads, and the nicest goddamn DA trigger I've ever felt. The serial number was double digits. The guy paid something like $1300 for it, and wanted $850. As nice as it was, I just couldn't go that high.

I know this doesn't help our original poster, but everytime I hear "Kahr K40", I think of that gun. Anybody got one?

Its a K40....base old stripper model. Actually it started life as a plain old 40, but has night sights, polished feedramp, throated chamber and Wolff springs in the recoil and mag departments.
Next is the Elite trigger and maybe some cool finish....then I may leave it alone....

The wilson K40's are VERY cool...but $1350 is overpriced. I saw one locally for 600$...should have jumped on it. I think the frame is just nickel plated after the checkering is done on the front strap and wilson actually did the trigger work on them thar guns also. I would love one......
Shoot well

A/P, the usual offer stands. If you're up for a drive shoreside, you're welcome to put a box or two through my MK9, just to get the feel of the gun, if you feel it will help.

Works for me. FlynGN and I were at the last TFL shoot, and we both agree we LOVE our Kahrs. Maybe he'll give you a whirl at his 40, and you can check the 9mm to see what suits you most.

I've had two K-40's, very nice.

First was a plan jane, That I was going to have refinished and put night sites on it, I came across a nib K-40 that the factory did a small run of with black T finish and night sites, This was sweet and I traded for it. Somehow along the years I've lost my taste for belt guns so that eventually went to.

I brefly had a P-40 that I loved, It was the latest fatory batch and it funtioned perfect. It rode in my pocket for 4 days, I put 300 rds through it before I had to return it because it was not leagle in my state, (distributor gave my dealer bad info)

If these ever get certified in my state I wll definity get anouther one, although It would prolly be a P-40 covert.

Pocket,
Do you have a pic of the black Ti gun....I think I saw one years ago at a gun show....it was the coolest looking finish I have ever seen on a gun. Just curious...good on ya.
Shoot well

Eric,
I don't have a pic, I believe The guy that invented the finish was walter birdsong as in "Black T ". It was a very slick finish and it smoothed the gun out nice. It was deep black with a glossy shine.

I do remember a noticable difference in function between the park k-40 and the Black T K-40.

The Black T gun was much smoother.

I did not carry it enough, so I don't know how durable it was, But it was pretty to look at.
