Hi Everybody,
Regarding the Kahr K40 and MK40 the next time you're at the range, please try this experiment. Try ejecting a live round from the chamber. Just load a round and then eject it without firing it. Does the round come out without any difficulties? What kind of ammo did you use? I am trying to see if these guns can easily do this in the case of a misfire.

Thank in advance,

ASG

Hello ASG,

I have put a full magazine in my K40 and then ejected all 6 rounds manually. This was with a broken ejector. (I did it to make sure it works) I then proceeded to put about 250 rounds down range with the same broken ejector. Worked great except for the brass hitting me in the head instead of the normal off to the side throw. Just make sure you pull the slide back swiftly. The faster you cycle the action the farther the spent or live round will be thrown.

Hoppy

The port, even with the relief cut into the front, is tight. I have to snap the slide back fairly forcefully to get it to eject a loaded cartridge.

A minor inconvenience with such a finely designed and built machine.

Tolerances on the MK40 are TIGHT. You can run into the issue of requiring some strength to get a live round out of the chamber, but as Morgan said....

I happened to be at the range today and remembered your post. I extracted and ejected 2 rounds by pulling rather heartily on the rear of the slide. K40 by the way. Both rounds flew about a foot away from the pistol. Is that what you wanted to know?

I have an MK9. A very tight gun. 9mm JHPs that are a little taller than some do have a very crisp ejection of a live round. You just have to put a bit of ooompf into it. Some ladies might find it difficult.

Regardless, this is a fine weapon.
