Kahr E9 Finish Question

I recently purchased a new Kahr E9. It has a stainless frame. The slide is finished with a black coating. Does anybody know what this finish is and how to care for it? The literature that came with the gun is not specific about the finish, and neither is Kahr's web site.

Thanks in advance for the help.

I think they call it birdsong (lol) or something like that. I think its powder coating..:) Itsa actually uncommon.. Have not seen too many..

I have a P9 with the black finish. I think Kahr has discontinued it and are only producing the stainless version now. As for care, I've had good luck with car wax (Kahr wax?), but go easy on the buffing. I've heard from others that the finish is very fragile, but also that Kahr will replace it if it goes bad.

Thanks, the finish does seem a bit fragile, like it would scratch easy. I also noticed that oil on the finish changes the luster.

It's just a simple matte blueing, in keeping with the economy- priced nature of the model. A good wax job would probably be one of the better protectants for it.:)

FlyinGN,

The gun that I have is the reverse color of the link that you attached. The frame is actually marked "stainless". I think it is acouple of years old and has been residing at the gun shop for that time. I could not find anything on the Kahr web site that had the same color combination. I prefer the gun that I have to the one shown in your link because it will produce less glare off the slide.
