Ka-bar pistol bayonet...

before you giggle your soda out your nose, relax. I simply see this as a fair priced nice fixed blade knife. Here's the question, does the rail attachment come off the handle so I can simply carry it as a knife? It seems like the perfect sized beefy fixed blade, had a bad folder experience (ouch) and am looking to switch my daily carry knife.

My Gerber easy out broke, folded up, and bit me! I don't blame Gerber, I was using it to butcher an animal, not exactly what it was designed for. However, it gave me some thought as to how tough a lower end folder like that would actually hold up if it was ever put to defensive use.

deadcoyote, Thank you! I was a little scared to check this thread, but you have reaffirmed my thoughts on the pistol bayonette.

I have no idea as to whether or not the rail mount comes off of the handle. But I do think you have a great idea for wanting to use that as a pocket or belt carried full tang fixed SD blade.

I see no reason as to why you could not cut and grind the mount off, and with a little time, it could be done such that nobody would ever know the difference. It would just take a little time with the cutoff wheel, grinder and dremel. Food for thought.....
