i have a K98 S/147 code, 1936 i bought a sight hood and cleening rod for it and the cleening rod sticks out a good inch past the muzle and the sight hood seems like its loose and dosent want to sit in one spot when i am packing it around! any sugestions on how to fix thse 2 problems? thanks

Assuming there is nothing stuck down in the hole, you could have a cleaning rod for another rifle. The K.98k cleaning rod is just a bit over 10" long.

Also, prior to 1939, the front sight bases didn't have the grooves for the sight hood, so yours wouldn't have had a hood.
