I was Simpson, LTD; it seems they have a good amount of Swiss rifles I stock. I'm undecided if I should get a K11 or K31. I am leaning toward a K11, just because they offer 20% off all K11's.
I don't know if the 1911 is really "weaker" but its locking lugs are in the middle of the bolt and IMHO that is not as good as having them at the front of the bolt like the K31. Also, the action is more compact.
Whichever one you get, when you get it home, pull the buttplate off and you might find a tag underneath with the name of the person to whom the rifle was issued.
Today I "pull the trigger" (sorry for the bad pun) on a K11!
(it comes with one of those pointy things: Most people call them bayo's)
Basically it was a economic decision but I happy with the purchase.
this is kind of off topic, but did anyone fall in love with their k-31 after shooting it? I thought it was a neat rifle when i got it, but after shooting it my mind was blown
I have a K-11. It has a longer throat and is easier to load cast bullets in it. Cast bullets are usually longer and heavier than jacketed. The shorter throated K-31 is not as easy to come up with a cast bullet load because of the short throat. You going to shoot factory or reload with jacketed...get the K-11 or K-31. Plan on shooting cast...get the 20% discounted K-11.
I love the way the K-11 bolt glides back and forth like it was running on greased ball bearings. Them Swiss knew how to build watches and rifles.
The K-31 is just redesigned to be a bit shorter in the action. I still prefer the K-11 , it seems to have a smoother operation. Try them both and see which action feels best.
When I was looking there were no K11s around here. Other guys told me the K11s were weaker and could not shoot full power GP ammo safely.
Personally I do not know as I do not own one.
Bought the K31 to shoot Swiss matches. Was not really expecting much when I did. After shooting it though I was just amazed.
