Hey gang, please lemme see what grips ya got on your RB K frames. I just picked up a 64-6 2" snubbie and it needs some goodies, thanks.:p

Hello. These are Eagle "Secret Service" stocks on my M19....

Best.

Sox, I have the same gun - mine has the Uncle Mike's Boot grips. My M13 has Pachmyers Professional (IIRC - exposed back strap) and I recently handled a M13 with the Secret Service" like Stephen Camp's revolver. I really liked the SS stocks and will probably put those on my next RB K frame.

Tough thing about it is that everyone's tastes are a bit different. I like Hogue grips for all K frame square butts, but their offering for the RBB leaves me cold. Try to handle one before buying if possible.

Gismo, actually I think I am leaning toward the Boot grip from uncle mike's? Do you have a pic by chance? I went lookin at the gunshow today, the grip guy wasn't there as luck would have it. But, a blessing in disquise. Stopped by local gunstore and found pair in the used bin. Got a pair of nylon with fingergrooves, exposed backstrap with checkering- I think these are either old roger's or safarilands. Second set was a rounded pachmayr with covered backstrap. Both for 10.00 total. This is the first K frame I have owned. I don't know why I waited so long, I am hooked now. Smooth, short action-without trigger job, better feel and more pointable than my little J frames. S&W could stand to bring thing out in a Titanium version ala the PD series with a HiViz front sight!

Sorry Sox, sure don't. A good gunstore would let you put'em on your gun and see how they feel first.

As regards K frames, once you learn how to smooth the rebound slide, your 80% of the way to a high dollar trigger job. I usuallly do this and lube with moly or tetra. Makes a world of difference and does not affect reliability.

Sox,

Hum... I can't tell you if they are or not. I'm not sure what Uncle Mike's K-frame boot grips look like, or even if they were made for square butt frames.

Duck,

No, my 2.5" Model 19 is a round butt. I stuck the square butt grips on it because I was having some trouble finding a set of Hogue round butt K-frame grips in my area, and liked the feel so much that I kept them on.

Now, that gun was supposed to come back home with me this evening from my parents house.

Guess what's still sitting in the fricking vault in Pennsylvania, while I'm typing this in Virginia?

Thanks Mike, had just never noticed a SB 2 1/2" M-19. Didn't even think about the SB grips fitting a RB gun.

PS Ahrends grips for my Model 65 ended my holy grail quest for the perfect K frame RB grip. YMMV

This is my Model 64 and 686. The 686 is an "L" frame, but has a "K" frame grip. The 686 wears the Spegel Boot Grip, while the 64 is dressed with a set of Boone Trading Co. Bonded/Cultured Ivory Grips & Tyler T-Grip adapter.

The snubby M64 is wearing Uncle Mikes RB Boot grips.
The M617 has the SB boots.
And, just for "kicks" (cause is does like a horse) my M66 Super-K.

The Model 66 "Super K" was a special run of, I think 200-300 pieces for Lew Horton in 1997.
It is a .357 Magnum on the K frame.
Basically a standard RB M66 frame, with a bizarre barrel, something of a predecessor to the N-frame V-Comps that are around now.
Here are the ad pages on this gun:

And here is a muzzle on view of the "V" barrel:

I have seen lots of wierd smiths, and more than a few scarce ones. Well, this one is wierd and scarce, and I love it! I don't shoot it much, as it is a total pain cleaning it so it looks LNIB, burn rings and all. I like it to look nearly cherry when I show it off. But, when I do shoot it, it has a sweet trigger and the M-porting really helps!
I'll never part with this one.

That info didn't come out well.
Let's see if this works better:

Sorry it's fuzzy, I blew it up from a crappy scan. Eh, at least you can read it now.
