k-frame barrel threads

Do all modern k-frame Smith & Wessons have the same barrel threads? For instance do a model 10-7 and a model 13-2 have the same barrel threads(diameter and pitch)? Thanks for any help in advance.

The threads are the same but the barrels are not interchangeable because the .357 barrel protrudes into the cylinder well less than the .38 barrel does. You could install a .38 barrel in a Model 13 but you would have to fit it; you could not install a .357 barrel in the Model 10 as it would have a large gap.

Also, .357 barrels are supposedly specially hardened and made from different steel than the .38 barrels.

Thanks for the info Jim. I have a mod 13 I got cheap because some idiot ruined the barrel by trying to drive out a squib with a common screwdriver. Was thinking a 2" barrelled 13 might be neat. Sort of a model 10 that could be loaded with .357 magnums on rare occasion. Thanks again.
