K-31 Sporter?

Am working on a WW11 rifle collection. Missed out on Swiss K-31 at local shop. Saw one at show over weekend. Except it was chambered in 30-30, like new stock. Barrel had Swiss mark and...30.30. Seller says he thinks it came from Swiss factory like that. Sounded fishy to me, Swiss using 30.30? Came back, it was sold. Still shopping, anyone hear of Schmidt-Rubin's in anything other than 7.5? Thanks. CTK

It wasn't a K31 it was a sporterized Model 1889. Quite a few Model 89s were altered in the 50s and/or 60s. NOTE: The Swiss never used a carbine version of the Model 1889. All "short 89s" are civilian conversions. Some were .308's and some were rechambered to 30-30.
