K-22 Ejection Problems

I have a well-used but quite serviceable S&W K-22/Combat Masterpiece that I enjoy except for one factor: With every different type of ammunition, it is a bitch to eject the spent rounds. Most of the time I have to empty it by pushing the ejection rod down with an object, or against something like a wood bench. Rounds go in fine, just won't come out without a fight. Someone told me this was a chronic issue with K-22's...anybody with advice?

I have this problem every time I shoot Federals in my K. If I stick to Remington golds (even bulk packs) it works fine.

Mine had the same problem. I polished the chambers and that helped some, but didn't really solve the problem. I checked my headspace and it was just barely within spec. Added a couple endshake washers and that solved the problem.

Good Luck...

Same here. My K-22 cylinder held the fired cases so tightly I could have hit the extractor rod with a hammer and still not ejected them. I had to punch the cases out one at a time with a stick.

My solution was to ship the gun to the S&W Service Department. They polished the chambers, and the result made a big difference.

IME letting the factory do the work is the best solution to most any problem with an S&W revolver.

I think I would have to agree with the "send it to the factory" contingent. I have a Model 17, and older K-22, and a Model 63, none of which have ever had any extraction problems. Whatever it is that is causing your problem, it can be corrected.

as long as I use Winchester powerpoints I don't have any ejection problems with my K-22 or M-63. using any other ammo and all bets are off
