Just When Does the "Balloon Go Up" ?

Hi Folks,

Well many of you have expressed the notion that when Gore becomes the new President, and he will become the new Commander-in-Chief, the so-called "Balloon has gone up".

Pardon me, what the hell do you mean by that?

Are you going to stop paying your taxes?

No.

Are you going to march on Washington, D.C.?

No.

Are you going to burn your cities to the ground in protest?

No.

Just what do you folks mean, or are you just ranting on about nothing?

Folks, I hate to say it, but most of you will do nothing, becuase you can do nothing.

At least face up to that fact, please.

Those of you wo dont are only making things worse by making all gun owners appear to be ready to fight a new American revolution, and that simply isnt the case.

To sum it up: get real. Gore will be the new President when all the smoke clears and we need to deal with that, not boast about how the "balloon has gone up".

Clue: It went up a long time ago, when the feds enacted the NFA of 1934 and then again when the GCA of 1968 was made law.

No, we did nothing then and we will do nothing now.

Yes, at best some of you will disobey the law, fight it out when it come to that, but it will not be enough to make any difference in the long term, not to mention the short term.

The militia concept is long since dead. No one defended it then, and you will not do so now.

Now, having said all that:

I have to dis-agree, the pressure hasnt been applied hard enough yet, you can only push people so far untill they snap, and you say burning cities, I heard jessie has been handing out matches in case of a Bush election... at least he as been laying the fuel down, tomorrow he has corridnated a protest day...

glockguy, there's a fairly wide-spread theory that having coordinated, non-violent protests reduces the likelihood of rioting (uncoordinated unthinking mob action). In times of unrest, having a peaceful outlet for emotions and the desire to "do something" acts as a release valve on the tension. The organizing, politicization, and involvement of communities has often been proven to reduce the crime and juvenile delinquincy rates. The connection to rioting is less well-proven but is, IMHO, very logical and supported by history.

Randy,

I agree with glockguy45. There was no Revolutionary War until there was a Revolutionary War. Having said that, your point about whether we are prepared to launch a civil war or not could be debated.

I know many people who are fed up, I mean flat out fed up, with the way things have been going the past decade or two.

Compare the events that triggered the Revloutionary War to the events that have transpired over the past eight years... There are startling parallels. And we have taken it even farther - we have witnessed the federal government murder its citizens (Ruby Ridge, Waco) - and then proceed to destroy evidence, cover up the crime and act like nothing happened - even defending their actions as just!

This only scratches the surface of the rampant violation of Constitutional rights and liberties that have and are occurring on a daily basis.

Like glockguy45 said, people can only be pushed so far...

But, at the end of the debate, I do suspect you would be correct. People are just too comfortable right now. They have their Lazy Boy, their 600 cable channels, and a steady paycheck guaranteed by the government.

We'll know when it happens. Like the supreme court justice who couldn't define pornography, but knew it when he saw it, we'll know.

I think Rev. David Hocking said it best in 1989, "It may be too late for America, but it is not too late for each one of us."

Don't follow the sheep. Be your own man as God leads.

Randy: I recognize the spirit of your post and while I often share your frustration I will never criticize other's calls to action.

You sound like the guy who would be rolling his eyes and snorting sarcasticly while Patrick Henry gave his famous "Give me liberty...!" speech.

Yeah we've been apathetic.. many of us are quite ashamed of this fact. All the more reason that people who attempt to motivate action should not have cynical wet blankets thrown over them.

What is the message you are sending to those who might have the guts to quit paying taxes, march on Wash DC, etc? You are telling them, "Go ahead! But don't expect any back up from this apathetic crowd."
Or maybe you were trying to use some reverse psychology on us???
Ironicly, at this rate, you are a self-fulfilling prophecy.

That's fine if you choose not to heed a battle cry, but at least don't ground it with your mockery.

Yeah, right. See you posting the same posts after Gore gets voted in for his second term.
Probably by a landside if gun whackies pull off couple of Oklahome Cities.

You have a split legislature. Now is the time
to apply max pressure to Congress to stave off new antigun legislation.

TFL fantasy is amusing. ALERT, REVOTE or REVOLT !!

Somebody sounds like a Federal "agent provocateur" to me. Keep your cards close to your vest!

Enter TFL's most well known motivation dampener: EnochGale! (applause)

You're gonna love this one EG, but have you ever considered the point of view that it's not the "gun whackies" that are tripping us up, but rather us keyboard commandos who don't have the intestinal fortitude to back their play.

RD,
Will MOST PEOPLE do nothing? Yes.

However, you seem to think that it will take a majority of disgruntled people to react to 'the balloon going up'. Duh, don't think so.

In the American Revolution, less than 10% of the people in America AGREED that we needed revolution. More than 80% were HAPPY to be subjects of King George. How many people are in the IRA, which has kept Ireland and England from peace for more than 500 years? According to Scottland Yard, there are less than 400 members of the IRA (I believe the actual count was 287 or some other rediculously low number).

How many Federal LEO's would have to hit the pavement BEFORE you felt we had a real revolution? 5000? 10000? 100000? I would say that if more than 50 Federal LEO's were 'killed in action' by disgruntled patriots who knew we were getting a screw job and started doing something about it, the Federal Government would call out the National Guard first(nationwide). Depending on how well they were able to control things (probably quite well for the first month or so - after that, they would suffer desertion in the ranks, as Joe Sixpack went home to watch over HIS family). After that, ONLY UN TROOPS could keep someone like Al Gore in office.

Terrorism on a wide scale basis (car bombings of politicians, snipers killing 'innocent cops', the left wing media talking heads being wasted, etc) could cause nationwide chaos. And then our Federal government would turn control of this country over to the UN (read, President Gore would DEMAND HELP).

So, your notion of radical patriots fielding troops to 'do battle' with an Army of Federal LEO's ain't gonna happen. What will happen is EPA people will get offed on the way to work. ATF, FBI, DEA, NSA, FAA, and other alphabet soup agents will be attacked, slowly at first then with more rapidity, and those agencies will start losing people. And how long would this go on before YOU would admit that "the balloon has gone up?"

If Gore somehow weasels himself into office,
go and rent or buy Patriot (Mel Gibson)
and it will be clear what we need to do about
chairman Gore and his fellow liberals.

The Germans had gone to war against their red menace in 1919. Did it save them in the long run?

Those of you who have not been to war, don't get too eager for it. War means coming home on one leg and finding your home gone, family crippled or dead, all the great perks that make life worth living.

This country has racked up a 600,000+ body count when the population was barely 30 million and weaponry was primitive...we could see more damage than that this time around.

I have faith in the ingenuity of Americans who'd find ways to deny control to the enemy without strapping on AR15s and marhing off to the trenches, not literally, anyway. If cornered, I will fight. If given a choice, I would put a lot of effort into avoiding a war. It is easy to start wars but very hard to end them.
