Just talked to a sales rep at GSI and asked a number of questions...to which he had answers.
1) Steyr is NOT going out of business. They were bought and will be STAYING in the same facility they are in now. BMW is not buying their place.
2) Steyr is NOT stopping their export of guns to the US. However, with the transition of ownership, there could be a delay in getting some guns or parts. This delay could be as long as 6 months.
3) There are plans for an M45, however, the sales rep said he doesn't foresee this gun coming out for another 1 - 1/2 years. He was definite on the timeline.
4) I found out that SOME of the guns they sent to dealers (ones advertised with 1 clip) are considered demos by GSI, but don't panic because its really all semantics. His definition of "DEMO" was this: These particular guns needed a trigger upgrade and it was performed. They were then brought to the range and test fired (maybe 1 clip's worth) to assess that the upgrade was done properly. Every 5th gun was tested, yet they were all labeled as DEMOS.
5) Which brings me to my last point. Someone on another thread speculated that some dealer (CDNN in this case) had bought all the DEMOS and Refurbished M9 pistols from GSI and therefore could offer them at a discounted price ($369.99 w/ 1 clip). Well, the guns are demos -- possibly -- but according to the sales rep they are NOT refurbs. He said that they've never sent a gun back to be refurbished.
Hope this information is helpful. Just FYI
