Just shot theGlock 19 and 35

I really wanted to like the Glock, mainly due to price considerations but after shooting these two plus a Glock 23 a few weeks back, I have to cross Glock off my list of future guns.

No flames please. I really due consider Glocks to be great guns, but it just doesn't work for me like 1911s do. I can pick up just about any 1911 in good condition and start hiting my mark, but with a Glock, I'm all over the place with no consistency. I even tried all the Glock shooting tips that I've read including not releasing the trigger all the way on repeat shots.

I wanted to get a high cap pistol within a moderate price range so it was between the Para P-16 Limted and the Glock 35 and after this outing, I'm going with the Para. Just my 2 cents.

I love Glocks, and you just named my three favorites, but hey no flames here.

Glocks fit my hand great, but your hand is'nt my hand. 1911's feel great to most people (but not me:( ) I'm a totally mechanically inept person who could likely never totally strip a 1911 and get it back together right-that doesn't mean you are. I don't have a gunsmith within 100 miles who does anything but scowl at pistols when brought in, so the fact I can change any part in my Glock is a big advantage- You might live right next to Bill Wilson (heck you might even be Bill Wilson for all I know)

Go with what you like and fits your requirments. Just don't say you don't like Glocks because they blow up or all shoot to the left ;)

The Glock is a little big for my small hands but, the Springfield XD-series and SIG 239 fits like a glove.

ese03f,

No reason to flame someone for their choices, it's a free country. :) FWIW, I think the Glock trigger does take some getting used to, I had problems for the first few outings with my first Glock. It's an acquired taste, and not everyone acquires it. :D:D

I have found that if I switch to other guns after extensive use of the Glock, I cannot hit very well with them. It used to be the other way around, and I almost swore off Glocks... now they are all I own, with the exception of a Ruger MKII. I shoot them great now, after a lot of practice, and I cannot foresee myself going to another weapon due to my muscle memory with the Glock.

The first time I shot my G19 I was hitting about 3" left every time. About 50 rounds worth. Was gonna try adjusting my sights but before I did that I used a bench rest and wouldnt you know it, it was dead on. Shot 7 rounds and the hole looked like a bunch of clovers laying on eachother. Concentrated on my trigger pull and the group tightened up beautifully. Just took a little concentration and now I can damn near hit a gnats butt at 20 yds. Almost:rolleyes:

I can shoot about 100 times better with my 1911 than I could with a G19. I also wanted to like it, but no deal.

That said, I'm still intrigued by the G30 as a carry gun and the G20 because 10mm is intriguring.

My first handgun: G19. Felt like a block of wood in my hand, and the trigger was disagreeable. Sold it. IMHO Glock makes a quality (function over looks) weapon, but they're just not for me.

You should be doing this with any semi auto you shoot including your 1911s. I own many 1911s and four Glocks and I shoot equally well with either weapon. If you can shoot a 1911 you should be able to shoot the Glock just as well, since they both have the same trigger pulls, first shot to last, which is what I like about both guns.

Not a flame but with some rounds down range and some time you would shoot the glock very well. You have been spoiled on the trigger of a 1911. I will admit that the 1911 has the best trigger action of any combat gun period. A glock is not as nice but once your used to it you will find it very easy to do well with and only bested by a tricked out 1911.
