I just picked up my Win. Trapper 94 .30-30 and thought I'd share a pic with you guys. I included my Ruger Speed-six for scale and to show off the Badger custom grips.

The Trapper's DOM is 1980

The Ruger's DOM is late 84/early 85

Nice looking saddle ring. (rattle, rattle, rattle) Some guys used to wrap leather laces around them to keep them from klinking against the receiver.

Also, I have found the 20 inch 30-30 carbine barrel as having "noticeable", muzzle blast and noise. Be sure to wear hearing protection when you shoot it.

I bought my brother a .45 Colt Trapper some years ago, he's lucky I gave it to him... it's one of the handiest rifles I've ever carried. I have it paired up with a .45 Colt Vaquero when I'm out west camping.

Congrats on a fine rifle! :D

Congradulations, nice looking weapons. Hope ya like your new lever action as much as I have liked mine. The more ya shoot them the smoother the action & trigger will get. Have fun & enjoy!:D

the trapper,s are loud in 30-30,but they are so handy to carry in the brush that i hunt some times. i have been thinking of adding a reciver sight to mine. eastbank.

Don't know if you were referring instead to the trapper like the OP's, which is 16"--which is really known for its ka-boom, moreso than the standard 20" carbine--but yes the trapper is loud and "flashy" - a literal blast to shoot, love mine - also ca 1980. +1 to ear protection with either though.

Sarge, I wish you the best of luck finding one. They are handy little rifles. I found mine on GB. I'm told that the ones chambered in pistol calibers are more in demand, so if you want a .30-30 like mine that may be a + for you.
Best Wishes, Bill

Sarge, just sent you a PM for a link to a possible. What 9ballbilly said may be true, but the just-pre safety/pre AE (pre USRAC) .30-30 trappers are getting scarce.
PS--and they didn't make any "Pre 64" trappers, only Pre War and Post 64.

I have a matched pair of like new Trapper 94's, one each of 44 &357 mag along with complimenting Ruger single actions. I shot both just a little to see if they work and killed a deer with the 44 before putting them away until my Grandsons get big enough to handle them.

Mobuck, Congrats on the matched pair!

Are they both no safety/no AE?

Maybe you can provide more info regarding something I was told.

Is it true that the Trappers chambered for handgun calibers are in higher demand than the .30-30 versions? Just curious.
