...The steel frame 1858 Remington for 179.99 delivered.

It is on back order until Oct 30.

I will let y'all know when it arrives.

Please do! i ordered the same thing last week but am overseas, so i must shoot vicariously through you. looking forward to a range report please :)

Hey, "Big"

Buy it from Cabelas at 179.00 then sell it on Gunbroker for 250.00.

Some schlub will buy it sooner or later.

Just a joke, fellas.

Yup, bought this one on Sale at Cabela's a couple months ago ... $189 minus a $20 coupon. Seriously thinking about ordering another!

One of those "pistol that never was" is one of my favorites. It handles great, and I love changing out the cylinders, which they also say historically wasn't done. Doesn't matter though, lots of fun.
You got a great deal too, so looks like you've got it all.

The 1st one of the little 5 1/2 1858's I ordered from Cabala's didn't seem right, I'm not sure what the problem actually was, but I sent it back and got a refund. Mine was $199 though.
Bought one a few months later from Gunbroker for less than $150 brand new.
Love it.

You can get some deals if you look every day. But many prices are silly.
People looking for the next dumb "fish" to swim by, makes me mad that people put lousy warn out guns on there and sell them high.
I guess folks don't check Cabela's. It has to be well lower than Cabela's or there's no reason to buy. I don't buy alot of them, but sometimes a deal will "swim by." :)

Also, on Gunbroker you gotta' watch it, some cats will charge you $30 or more for shipping, what a joke.
That is one of Doc's pet peeves there. But he's the reason I look every time before I bid. I've walked away many a time, because some slub is trying to pad his pocket, or pick mine with those $30 mail.
So be sure and check that guys.

I love changing out the cylinders, which they also say historically wasn't done.

they didn't? everything i ever thought is a lie :(

on a related note, how do you load the cylinder on an 1858?

I take mine out and use a loader. I got 3 with a '58 I bought from gunbroker. Then I can have an "18 shooter" instead of a 6 shooter.

Can't do that with my Colts.
That short 5 1/2 Remmy is one of my favorites, handles great.

My Favorite!

I think the 5 1/2" Remington is the neatest revolver yet! Power plus handling all in one package!

Dr. Strangelove (great movie by the way)
Down here in Central Florida the deer are the size of large goats, but up in Georgia and farther up north, the deer are much larger.

Are you sure about deer hunting with a '58?
How large a charge are you gonna' use?
Not tryin' to fuss with you, just curious,
