Just kinda wanted to say hello.

New to reloading. Thought I'd post a hello here since I'll practically live on this forum hahaha. Though I've loaded several hundred possibly nearing 1000 rounds of 9mm, I was always with my brother in law. Well he upgraded and handed me his Lee Breechlock press, safety scale, 1lb of unique several hundred cast boolits of varying weights and 9mm dies. Even though I've loaded a bunch with him this will be my first go of it on my own. For some reason I'm nervous as hell, lol. I was helping a friend of the family clean out her garage and found a Dillon cv-500 tumbler too so....score! Got some lizard litter splashed with nufinish and thinner. Brass is coming out cleaner than I dared hope and I'm pretty excited about this. I know I still need certain items. Some I'll need and some I'll just want. In any case, thanks far in advance for any knowledge gained!

Welcome there is a lot of great minds and really good info here. Don't be afraid to ask if you are in doubt. Better safe than sorry.

Just take things slow and easy and don't try to load up everything you have at once. Load small batches of 10-20 at a time until you have the whole process down. I know that sounds a bit overly cautious, but trust me, knocking out a dozen or so rounds due to an uh oh is a LOT better than having to do a whole passel of them.

Besides your just starting out and trying out your loads to see how well they work for your intended purpose is what the smaller batches are great for. I can't say that I have loaded any 9mm using Unique just yet, but then I also haven't tried a host of other powders that lots of others like either. I find that Bullseye, and AA-5 & 7 are my go to powders. Mainly due to I load them in just about everything using cast. I do run a couple of other powders with my revolvers but those are for upper end loads. The bottom feeders I like to shoot into small groups with little recoil.

Thanks for the welcomes guys. I really appreciate it. As for the unique....that's just what he told me works. I may give the powders you mentioned a look for sure. Seems half the fun of reloading is the tinkering.

If you haven't already done so, check out thread "My first baby steps ..."; the general comments therein might be applicable. Your loading status may be similar to his. You'll notice that since no specific questions were asked, no specific answers, like loading data, were furnished. But do follow up with specific questions when needed. Responses will be forthcoming. And as someone has humorously said, ten responders will give you twelve different answers but that's part of the fun of the game. In the end you may have wished that you didn't ask the question ;) or just can't wait to ask the next.

Welcome to the forum ZuluFoxtrot. Lots of good info here as it sounds like you've already seen. I am fairly new to reloading also. You'll find lots of opinions on here - a lot depends on what you are reloading for. Cheap plinking rounds are quicker to reload than precision rifle loads. You'll find it all here! Have fun, shoot safe.

Welcome, first things first do your do diligence and read several of the available reloading manuals such as the ABC's of reloading. These book/manuals will help you develop the vocabulary you will need to develop the skills you will need to pursue this hobby!! William

Actually, that thread popped upon a Google search for reloading for beginners. Very first thing I read here that made me join!

Welcome . . .

Welcome ZT!
You are gonna love this forum. I first got on to this forum for the reloading help, but now read through all the posts at least once a week. So much to learn and the people who frequent this forum are just great.

Live well, be safe.
