I just got back from a gun show and had the chance to hold a scoped M1A for the first time. It was sweet. I've had a loaded M1A for about 2 years now and have wanted to scope it, but have heard too many negatives about scoping. The rifle I saw had a TSA scope mount (which I was told is as high as the Brookfield Precision) and I was able to use the iron sights through the scope mount. I was pleasantly surprised to say the least. I had thought that by putting on a scope mount I would not be able to use the iron sights; thus, I've held off scoping my M1A. Now that I know that I can still use the iron sights, I plan to scope the rifle immediately. The M1A sure offers us out here in lovely Kalifornia a great alternative to all the BS gun laws.
