So i finally get my michigan CPL in the mail the other day, or CCW as its known by to some. Took like 95 days. It comes in the mail as i'm getting ready to leave for work so I just open it and stick it in my wallet not paying too much mind. Fast forward to later on that night, I get home from work take it out to look at it, and guess what? they spelt my first name wrong my first name is Matthew, looking at my permit it says Mahew. So i just paid all this money, waited for almost 100 days for it to come in, and I can't even use it because they can't spell my name right, and being that its the weekend I have to wait until monday to go down to the county clerks office and get it taken care of. It's just frustrating, had to vent about it.
 
That really sucks man! Just lucky for you that Monday's not a furlow (sP) day. What county are you in anyway? Wayne, Oakland or Macomb?
 
Oh man, I would be steaming.

I mean, that just sucks.

I hope they put you in the express lane for a new one.
 
I live in wayne county, I went today between classes at school and work and they printed me a brand new license right there so I didn't have to wait at all, good thing because if I would of had to wait again I would of been really steaming, so it's all taken care of.
 
So anyone know details about Macomb County process. After I appear in front of the gun board, how much longer, and when will I know for sure?
 
I am a Wayne County resident. I have been waiting for 5 1/2 months now for my CPL. Is something seriously wrong here?

That really doesn't sound right at all. I'm in Macomb County and it took a little less than 3 months. I'd get on the phone to the county clerks office.
 
Gee...Wayne County. Why do you think they spelled your name wrong? My guess is that they spelled it the way they pronounced it.

If it still shows pending after 6 months, call the Clerk for a reason why it is taking so long.

It still shows "pending" as my status. So I guess I'll give it another couple weeks (until Oct 6th) for the 6-month mark to hit, then I'll call and ask.

A brother of my brother's friend has also been waiting a long time for his too. Wayne County also. I think my bro forgot how long he said he'd been waiting. I'm guessing a big backlog is what it is. But it's really starting to **** me off. I knew that Wayne Co. took longer than surrounding areas, but this is ridiculous.

I don't want to worry you but something is wrong if it is taking that long. Usually, from what I've read at the Michigan Gun Owners site, the hold up is a name mis-match or something of that nature.

It took me two months to get my CPL recently. This was during the "boom" period after the Obama election. So, with six months there is usually something holding it up IMHO.

A guy I know personally had this happen this year. He got his after about 6 months with no explanation as to why there was a hold up compared to regular processing times. He has a VERY common name though.
 
I believe now they give you a paper along with your CPL stating something along the lines of, "check all information on your CPL for errors before you leave".

I am in the UP Got my CPL about a year ago. took about a month. I turned in my forms paid my money. I was told I had to wait untill the gun board met. 3weeks later I was called to come pick up the CPL. It must the county and your gun board. Dickinson county is a will issue county. OF course thing have changed all over due the new president
