Just got glock 29

I just purchased a Glock 29(10mm) - my first Glock, and had a few questions.

Do the high-cap magazines for the G20 fit right in to the G29, or do you need a magazine extendor I've seen advertised?

What is the best ammo, both target and self-defense for this gun? I bought 50 rounds of FEd 180 gr hyrdashock when I bought the gun, but know there is higher velocity ammo out there.

Any info would be appreciated.

The G29 is a great hand cannon. Yes the G20 mags fit into the 29. The extension is not needed except for hand comfort and they look awful when attached. I just live with the mag sticking out. Winchester Silvertips 175GR seem to be the round to use in the 29, as they tend to be the max for ballistics, of course they are robust when the trigger is pulled. You now have the ultimate Glock!

Any of the "light" 10mm loads may be okay for self defense, but if you want to rock and roll, use the Winchester 175 gr. Silvertip hollowpoint. At one time, these were labeled as the most powerful factory load available. However, Cor-Bon makes a 200 gr. "penetrator" round. This would be my choice for a hiking round for protection against Mr. lion and Mr. BLACK bear.

i love my G29...but i had a problem. the ejector needed to be replaced. the malfunction would have the empty case held by the extractor against the breachface...the ejector will not eject the case. look for more info on my page under "Handguns: A-R" and scroll down to "Glock". once the new ejector was fitted, my G29 has had 100% reliability.
