Just got a King Cobra. Manufacture date?

Hi all,

Just got a 4" Bright Stainless Colt King Cobra over the weekend. Used but in beautiful condition with no box or papers. $375 price tag.

The dealer accepted my trade of a stainless 6" Dan Wesson 715 heavy ribbed target barrel with wood grips and adjustable sights w/box and paperwork & an old Rossi nickle plated .38 special 5 shot Model 68 w/rosewood grips (no box). Even trade! :D Woo! Hoo! I was psyched! Can't wait to shoot it!

QUESTION: With the serial number being 1KC443 can anyone tell me when the date of manufacture was? If not, is there an online resource?

To learn the production date of your King Cobra you will have to call the factory. There are no published dates for the newer Colts (1985 and beyond).
 
I'm not entirely sure, but the "1" at the beginning may be an "I." My King Cobra from 1995 is KE70XX. You can call Colt, but they can only give you the year (S&W usually gives you the exact day), their number used to be 1-800-962-COLT but I haven't called them in a while. Hope this helps!
