Thank you all for helping me decide on a Glock. I went and handled the 23 and the finger grooves crouded my fingers too much, and it didn't feel right, so I grabbed the BIG DAWG 21 and it was a perfect fit!!! A little long and heavy, but I'm use to that. ;) The grip was perfect, I was afraid it would be too fat but I have XL glove hands, so that's about right. Best of all, now I can shoot reloaded .45ACP full metal jacket, as long as we follow the reloaders guide right? Never load hotter than within' the Clay's powder specs for the round. I hope to pick it up on Thurs. / Fri.

I will check out the 30 one more time when I go to finish the deal, but it felt like I'd have a hard time hanging on to it...kinda stubby. Why don't they make a compact .45? :(

Thanks again for all the email, and thread responses.

Glock does make a compact it's called the G 36. It is a single stack 7 round 45 ACP. It's slimmer than the G30. From all accounts it is a good shooter.:D

Glock...

The 30 is a sub-compact, and the 36 is a "slim-line", I want a true 4" compact with slide rails, like a 23. ;)

I don't think the 30 and 36 can be classified neatly as a "sub-compact" OR a "compact". IINM, the bbl length is 3.78", less than 1/4" short of 4", so they're probably closer to a "compact" than anything.

Congratulations!

The Glock 21 is my favorite 45 ACP Glock. With those finger grooves and the accessory rail, its great for competition, home defense, and training.

Great shooter out to 50 yards.

And almost every competitive shooter in IPSC, IDPA, and GSSF shoots reloads in all of their Glocks. When you shoot 3K a week, reloading is the only way to to it!

I'd just buy aftermarket barrels for my 40SW Glocks since the round has a history of kabooms. But 9mm, 357 SIG, 10mm, and 45 ACP reloads have long been shot through Glocks with no issue.

They've just been sued a couple times from guys double charging or triple charging or loading split brass that detonated on them. if you check, several manufacturers have that "no reloads" warning in their manuals.

We do all day long. Call the bullet and powder manufacturers to verify.

Duke,

Go over to GlockTalk and you'll find a lot of unhappy shooters with those G36s.

Great if you carry it and only shoot a box through it here and there.

But I shot a good 400 rounds through my range's demo G36. Several brands of factory ammo and several mild, moderate, and nuclear reloads.

The G36 has the recoil and snap similar to 10mm and many Glocksters do dump them for the G30s.

See used and considgnment G36s with night sights for sale regularly but not the G20 or G21.

So be advised, all is not well with the G36 contingent!

Hey guys...

...well, I pick up the 21 tomorrow, and I just what to make sure it's the one I want. They have the 30 and the 19 also. I like the 19 because of it's size, but I can't reload for it. I'd also considered the 30 for it's size, but I wanted slide rails and I think it's too small. What do you think....

Reload the large 21, or buy 9mm for the perfect 19?

Easy. There has historically been a shortage of full sized Glocks like the Glock 20 and 21. The guns and the hi caps. You should have seen the folks waiting for 6 months to get a Glock 21 because the Army purchased a ton of G21s for the Desert Storm Campaign.

Buy the G21 first. It is more valuable than most of the compacts. And a pair of factory hi caps too. May be able to snag them for $85 each when piggybacking on the gun sale. And with the rails and the finger grooves, you'll enjoy the G21 at the range and for HD.

You can ALWAYS find a used G19/G23 or a factory refurbished G19/23 with a pair of hic caps for $399-425. Police trade ins too.

Glock just churns the 19s/23s for all of their LE contracts anyway. And the civilians like them so Glock churns them out like there's no tomorrow. I love my compact Glocks but after 30 yards, you need the longer sight radius and barrel length to keep the bullets from dropping an inch or two more at 50 yards and only the G20, G21, G22, G34, G35 give you that.

Again, 45 ACP is a very popular round for young and old shooters so the G21 should be your first. And you reload for it.

Kizmet!

And you can pick up the G19 next time.

Many Glockster have 5 or 6 anyway. How can you knock a gun that goes bang and cleans up in 8 minutes flat?
