I just got word that a friend of mine (Wayne) was wounded Sunday night along with another officer. He's an LEO in the Douglasville, Georgia Police Dept. I don't have too many details, other than he was shot in the hand. He's okay, but in lots of pain from what I understand.

If somebody out there can find an article on what happened (or just knows more than I do), could you please post it?

He was lucky he was only asked to pay a small amount of Blood - I have three close LEO friends that were asked to pay a whole lot worse...

Rest in Peace my friends...

Tell him everyone at TFL wishes him a speedy recovery & his mate too !

Sorry 'bout your friends there George...

Update...

I ran into my friend Tuesday night. He was back on duty! :) His hand was a bit swollen, and he has two new scars - one between the first two knuckles where the bullet went in, and one in the meat between the thumb and forefinger where they cut it out. Other than that, he's just fine! No broken bones, no nerves, tendons, or major blood vessels hit - docs predict a 100% recovery!

He said he had his hand resting on the side of the garage door, pistol aimed at the BG, telling him to drop the weapon when the BG fired. The bullet went through the door and into his shooting hand. He said he saw it when they took it out - it deformed very little (lucky!!). He was off the streets less than a week! And he said he got cards & calls from people he hadn't heard from in 10 years.

Guess it's time to work on my weak hand shooting...

The other officer wasn't so lucky - his arm is still immobilized. They couldn't remove the bullet because it's too close to his heart - they're hoping his body will move it away far enough for them to remove it later. He also is complaining of a tingling sensation in his arm, they think he may have some nerve damage. :( But, I'm told he's in good spirits.

Dave, glad to hear about your buddy's recovery. Something for him to tell the grandkids about. :)

OTOH, sorry about the other LEO. Nerve damage sucks, especially in your arm.

Did they get the goblin, at least?
