Just for fun........

I've always been pretty serious about my shooting. Most guns were bought for study, comparison with another, velocity vs. barrel length, down range accuracy, or best revolver for game. Age, and finances, have greatly restricted that amount of shooting. Where I once felt a minimum of 300 rounds per week just to stay at peak form, its now once a month or so, and with the littl .22.

Bought this last year and it has been on fun little gun:

Its a Uberti Stallion in .22 LR (only, no mag cylinder) and just sorts of shoots where I look.

There just seems to be something about .22's that makes them accurate. In my experience, even inexpensive .22's like my H&R Sportsman or my grandfather's High Standard Sentinel are delightfully accurate and joys to shoot.

You have a very classy revolver that will no doubt give you a lifetime of range fun.

I occasionally see a post from someone who would like to "see them make" a .22 SA with the original size frame, barrel and cylinder. Sounds great, except...

I once handled and fired one of the very few Colt Single Actions actually made in .22. It was very heavy and actually hard to hold out in the normal one-hand position. Maybe I could have gotten used to it, but I was glad Ruger had the good sense to scale the Single Six down.

Good workouts at the range with that 22 single action will give you great habits that you will see in all your other handguns...

Bimmer,

My "great habits" were developed over fifty years ago. I've been a pretty good shot over the years; I'm not trying to be boastful, but enjoy a fair reputation at my range. I'm sort of in the twilight years of my shooting carreer, age and finances (Social Security) limit my shooting now. I used to expend at least 300 rounds of .44 Magnum or heavy .45 Colt loadings each week. Now I'm down to about once a month, and mostly .22 stuff.

If I may brag a little, here is a group from a few years back, with my then favorite Ruger Super Blackhawk:

The best field shot I think I ever made with this gun was taking a groundhog at a measured 110 yards.

I've always liked the .44 Magnum, here a slightly more recent group:

I know what you mean Bob...I have been shooting since I came back from overseas in 1970, and "habits" developed properly will stay with you as long as you practice them. Since I am on SSAN as well, it is hard to see the prices of good ammo and components continue to go up as high as now and probably continue higher.

If you ever get up river to the home of the Cardinals, give me a shout...the shootings on me!

Blessings, Bimmer
