I saw the picture of israel soldier wearing flak best, it looks a little similar with flak vest US army is using(the one in the beginning of movie Predator 2), also I remember I saw another kind of flak vest in the picture of UN forces in Yugo several years ago,
so, I guess generally SP bullet has less penetration than FMJ,
How would those bullet type act in terms of penetration of flak vest, let's say 300yds-500yds, or over 600yds?
want to hear about real rifle (.308 or 7.62x54R or 8mm mauser), not a wimpy one(.223) :D
 
PASGT vests (what the US uses/used for the past 20 years, and similar to the Israeli and Canadian flak vests) probably won't stop a rifle round, even at 500-600 yards. They are rated for fragmentation only. I know they will stop .22LR from a pistol at point blank, but I don't know from a rifle.
 
PASGT (personal armor system, ground troops) will stop an AK round at 300+ meters but it will not stop an M855 at ranges less than 500.

M855 will penetrate 3.5 mm of RHA at distances up to 550 meters.
