Just Bought My First

Well, I finally didi it. After 24 years walking on this earth I just bought my first handgun.
I have been shooting rifles and shotguns since I could wak but never really had a need for a pistol/revolver.
I have been wanting to get into range shooting as well as looking for something for home defense.
I just walked out of the store with a Ruger Security Six in .357 with the 4" barrel. I dont think I did too badly. I got it for $275 tax and all. Which I considered pretty good since they had a six with the 2 3/4" barrel for $344.
I cant wait to get to the range this weekend and get to practicing.
Thanks to everyone here who has helped me make this decision and for all the posts I have waded through here at TFL.

Congratulations!

I have a security six 357 x 4" and I'm sure you will like yours, too.

BTW, are you a bit older than 24, or did yoy start walking REAL early?

1st handgun

CONGRATULATIONS HarryRod.
It can be an 'addictive' hobby. Lots of fun, great friends to be made at the shooting range, and that's only part of it.
The main thing is to send lead downrange - frequently and safely.

The Ruger Security-Six is one fine handgun. And it
should never have been dropped from the Ruger line!:)

HarryRod, welcome to TFL, the finest firearms site on God's earth (Thank you, Mr. Lucibella)

Excellent gun - and excellent home defense choice. Plus, the .357 Magnum is one of the more versatile guns out there. Hit the range and enjoy.

Harryrod,

I was 28 when I got my first handgun. I got a .357 S&W 686. I still have it and I love shooting it. You'll like the Ruger. Good guns. Congrats and welcome to TFL.
