Well I finally did it, I bought my first gun. I decided that since this was my first I should get something nice so I went with an HK USP .45. I am sure this will not be my last and I have a feeling this is going to become addictive! Just wanted to share with everyone.

Congrats

Congrats Gabe! I soon will be buying my first also. However I have opted for a New Colt 1991A1 with the new roll marks. I have been shooting .22 for about month now with my club, and I can continue to shoot their guns, so I have opted to buy a large bore gun with more possible applications as my first gun. Let me know how you handle the .45 since I am getting a .45 also. Congrats again.

Congrats, welcome to the forum and nice gun indeed!

Have you had a chance to shoot it and learn it well yet?

I just paid for it tonight so I can't get my paws on it til Friday night. Damn 3 day "cooling off" period. Yeah come on like in 3 days I am gonna change my mind! LOL What a joke. Anways I am going to shoot it Saturday at the range, should be a blast.

Well, the 3 day cooling period is there because in 3 days you won't feel like using your gun to steal stuff for drug money. They wouldn't pass a law just to harrass you, what are ya, paranoid? ;)

Anyway, lucky you, our cooling off period is 10 days. Trust me, I get more anxious than I 'cool off' in those 10 days.

web pages with music

Okay, a poll then...

Give me ten good reasons to take the music off
and I will. (One reason per response, please.)
(Only two responses per user, please.)

BTW, the .WAV is only on the main page. All others are mute.

Best regards, thanks.

I don't want your .wav file competing with my CD. I didn't ask for a.wav file. You didn't ask if I wanted to listen to that crap. It wastes bandwidth. It delays page loading.

Mike,

Try <embed border="0" autostart="false" loop="0" width="128" height="128" src="music/DearOldDixie.mp3">

Replace music/DearOldDixie.mp3 with the sound byte of your choice. This creates a control panel, which has music on standby and if the person wants to run it, they can hit the play button.

It works for all file formats. MIDIs are annoying if you can't shut them off (i.e. embedded in a frame) and WAVs that automatically start are so, esp. if you have your Table of Contents and everytime the viewer wnats to see something ELSE on your site, they have to deal with the music.

IMO sound effects are MUCH worse than music. If someone has their speakeres turned up for whatever reason, when they load your page, you may also scare the crap out of them and turn them off to what good information you have to say. Try it out and let me know if it helps.

www.skunkabilly.com you can see what I mean.

Just remember, live by them:
1- All guns are always loaded
2- Never point it at anything you aren't willing to destroy
3- Keep your finger off the trigger until you are on target
4- Be sure of your backstop and what's beyond

BTW- Welcome to TFL and enjoy your new gun.

boiler03- You will have 0 problems handling the .45. Get any doubts you have out of your head right now!! :D

My first gun was a USP .45 also. My advice is to start saving your money now 'cuz pretty soon the USP compact .45 will start to look interesting. Then you'll want the utilitarian beauty of a Glock... and a 1911 trigger is too sweet to pass up... and everyone should have a .22 pistol... and revolvers are pretty cool.. and you really need a .44. ...and you gotta have something in 9mm... and.....

LOL RT!!! Yeah I know what ya mean I am already looking at a Kimber CDP II for a concealed carry if we ever get it here in the state. Thanks for the tips on fire arms safety by the way but this is by far not the first gun I have fired or been trained on. I was a Marine for 4 years and I was lucky enough to play with some big stuff like .50 Cal machine guns and Mk 19 40mm belt fed grenade launchers. Now that was some firepower! Obviously I have fired the M-16 as well but the biggest thing the Corps empahsizes besides marksmanship is safety safety saftey! Once again thanks for all the advise guys and I am all ears to any tips anyone has since I am new to this hobby.

sound file on web page for newbies

Didn't take 10 reason. The first reason was enough.
Sound file deleted. Thanks for the input.

Best regards.
