Just bought an UGLY single shot

I just bought about the UGLIEST single shot I have ever seen.
The stocks do not match, the bluing is almost gone, it is made in brazil
the good thing is...... at 40 yards I can get 319 pellets in a 30"X24" rectangle
and it fits me like a dream....and it was only 45 bucks.

I forgot to mention that the pattern was with 1oz of shot in 7 1/2 low brass
Federal Game loads from Walmart...3.47 a box.....
it was a very evenly spread pattern and I know it is a keep as far as a meat getter......works great on quail here in AZ.

Get some bluing in a bottle, and reblue it! I just did this to 3 of my guns and they look like new! Get "Super Blue" or "Van's Bluing". It works wonders!

Yeah, he could do that and fool around with the wood and it'll look much better, and if he messes up, it won't be such a big deal. :)

I was gonna paint it camo and my wife said she liked it like it is....go figure.
I just came home from hunting, it got 6 quail again today...not a complaint from me at all...good Ole ugly gun :D

Single shot is good!:)
I was strollong thur a Dunham's store. It's a chain store in these parts that sells sportings good, ammo, bicycles, and such.
I saw a single shot 12, 28" full in teh rack with a price tag of $49.00.
That had to be a mistake and I asked to see it.
The clerck (who knew nothing, like most of 'em) said it was "on sale", made in China and explained (as though he knew something) that I probably didn't want it because it was chamber only for 2 3/4" ammo, not th3 3" magnums.
It was tight as a drum, metal finish and fit was quite good, the wood was frugly painted brown with something you might coat your driveway with.
For a 49 bucks I had to buy it.
I took it home, read the literature which claimed the a gun was picked from the 1st production run, fire 5000 rounds of 1 1/4 oz ammo and checked.
There was no measurable wear so the warranty stated the gun was warrented for 5000 rounds!
Let me see a domestic maker put a warranty like that on any expensive gun.
I doubt many inexpensive single shots get fired 5K in anyones life time.
This one is a good soild tool that I keep as a "barn gun".
I've taken a dozen feral cats out of circulation, dropped a few crows, killed some squirrels, and rabbits.
I throws a soild 90% and better pattern at 40 and shoots buck pretty well expecially #4 buck.
Being a single shot its light, so kicks pretty well, especially with short mag 1.5oz #2 and lead b.b.
There isn't much you can't do with the standard short 12 gauge ammo.
I like single shots a lot.
I stripped the brown paint off the wood revealing some kind of opened grained Chinese blond wood. I filled the pores and gave it three coats of tru-oil and she is a very servicable, usefull tool.

Utility single shots have a charm all their own, as well as being solid performers.

Lots of us still have one around. I do.

Light loads are much fun, and often quite effective.

I don't ever shoot anything but 2 3/4". I wouldn't sell or trade my singleshot for anything.

I have probably had a dozen ugly single shots. I usually buy them at a flea market we have once a year and refinish the wood and clean up the metal and end up selling them for twice what I paid.
I actually had a CBC Model 151 20 gauge. It was a decent gun. enjoy them I wish I'd have kept mine.

Just field strip the gun, and send out the metal parts to be sand blasted, and powder coated. It will look better than it was brand new! It will cost more than you paid for it, but it will last you your lifetime!
