Single shot is good!
I was strollong thur a Dunham's store. It's a chain store in these parts that sells sportings good, ammo, bicycles, and such.
I saw a single shot 12, 28" full in teh rack with a price tag of $49.00.
That had to be a mistake and I asked to see it.
The clerck (who knew nothing, like most of 'em) said it was "on sale", made in China and explained (as though he knew something) that I probably didn't want it because it was chamber only for 2 3/4" ammo, not th3 3" magnums.
It was tight as a drum, metal finish and fit was quite good, the wood was frugly painted brown with something you might coat your driveway with.
For a 49 bucks I had to buy it.
I took it home, read the literature which claimed the a gun was picked from the 1st production run, fire 5000 rounds of 1 1/4 oz ammo and checked.
There was no measurable wear so the warranty stated the gun was warrented for 5000 rounds!
Let me see a domestic maker put a warranty like that on any expensive gun.
I doubt many inexpensive single shots get fired 5K in anyones life time.
This one is a good soild tool that I keep as a "barn gun".
I've taken a dozen feral cats out of circulation, dropped a few crows, killed some squirrels, and rabbits.
I throws a soild 90% and better pattern at 40 and shoots buck pretty well expecially #4 buck.
Being a single shot its light, so kicks pretty well, especially with short mag 1.5oz #2 and lead b.b.
There isn't much you can't do with the standard short 12 gauge ammo.
I like single shots a lot.
I stripped the brown paint off the wood revealing some kind of opened grained Chinese blond wood. I filled the pores and gave it three coats of tru-oil and she is a very servicable, usefull tool.
