Just bought a new revolver, what do you think?

Howdy folks, just picked up a new used revolver. It's a Smith model 13-4. Blued with a 4" barrel and fixed sights. I would rate the bluing at about 75%, but no rust spots, timing is good and barrel/chambers are nice and shiny-smooth. I don't think this one has seen much in the way firing. I got it for $228 at a local pawn shop (including tax, NIBC). What do you think of the buy? I think it's pretty cheap home-owners insurance.
Serial number is BBJ29** can anyone tell me what year it was made? the numbers on the yoke are 845. Thanks.

Hey -- lucky you.

I looked at a 13-2 a few weeks ago. Lust inducing -- fit my hand well, pointed well, nice size. Alas, the yoke was sprung pretty badly.

I have a 4" 13 in my nightstand. Sounds like you got a good revolver.

If I'm reading it right, the Standard Cat of S&W (2nd ed.) says probably the first half of 1988 for the BBJ prefix.

Thanks for the info. I really appreciate it. I'm going to tear the old Pachmeyer grips off and give it a good cleaning then take it out to the range and give it a shoot. Thanks again for the info trapshooter.
