This is a repost from kahr talk. This forum is just way more active. Looking for more opinions.

Hi everyone! I'm new to the forum and proud owner of a new kahr cm9! Quick question, what's with the gritty ass trigger? I have yet to shoot it. It's super new and greasy. Is this normal for the trigger to have this much grit before break in?

Update:So just to fast forward. It seems to be the retainer spring rubbing on the bottom of the trigger bar. Should the break in period smooth out the trigger bar? Any kahr fans or anyone with a similar issus out there?

I have 4 Kahrs, CM9 CW9 CM45 CW45. All have smooth triggers. Follow the recommended break in, then see how thing are. I don't remember any of them being gritty when new.

I never noticed any objectionable "gritty" feel to my Kahr CM 9 trigger. But then again, I don't obsess about how wonderful the trigger should feel on a gun intended for CCW.
I thought mine felt fine, shot accurately, and performed 100% reliably from the first round fired. Although as with any gun I might carry I did jot put it into service before a minimum of 100 trouble free rounds. In the case of my Kahr, I made it the factory recomended 200 rounds.

Hello,

Thank you for purchasing a Kahr Arms/Auto Ordnance product. We are sorry you are experiencing this issue. This may abate with break-in but we do recommend you send this in for service. We can establish an RMA for you to return your firearm for service. Here is a link to our online RMA request form.

Thanks,

I guess I'll send it in.

MY CM9 has always been smooth and never has any issues, even during "break-in". That loooong trigger can take some getting used to if you are more familiar with 1911, S&W single action, etc.

Before you send it in degrease the striker channel with polymer safe gun scrubber or similar. No lubricants in the striker channel on these guns. See if dry fire works better afterwards.

You mentioned retainer spring rubbing on the trigger bar. Do you mean the trigger bar spring (#14)? If so you can put a tiny dab of synthetic grease there. And also a tiny dab where the trigger bar and trigger are retained by the trigger spacer (#11).

In general the Kahr trigger pulls should be very smooth, non-gritty and non-stacking with a clean break. If you try the above and it still is poor I'd send it in.

Got my gun back, trigger is perfect. Kahr Gunsmith put a small mark on my polymer frame. I'm pretty pissed about it. Emailed and waiting on a response.

...small mark on my polymer frame.
Carry gun? Put a bigger mark over the small one yourself. Then forget about it. Carry guns aren't for show & tell and anyway it's going to get other marks if you're actually going to carry it.

@johnksa yea you're totally right side. I wouldn't mind it if I did the damage but it's from the manufacturer. I mean c'mon..

@chainsaw it's a small mar on the polymer frame near the take down notch. A normal person wouldn't mind it but I have Yankee Marshall level ocd. I'll try to post a pic. Get ready to laugh...

After a year in a kydex pocket holster, you'll forget about the mark on the economically priced pocket pistol.

My PM9 was $800 back in '09, and the rose was off the "pretty little pocket pistol" bloom after a year, with the holster scuffs on the frame and the stainless slide.

Yea I know the honeymoon period will wear off soon. Worst case scenario I'll take some free mags. I highly doubt they'll replace the frame lmao!

I bet you don't mean this mark, but Kahrs have a mark in the grip by the muzzle...

If not that, yeah, I would politely point it out and ape after.

Oh yeah totally dude. I told the rep" I appreciate the fast turnaround time for my trigger. But I would like to know what are we going to do about that damage?"

Kahr called me. Apologized for the damage and are sending out a free 7rd mag. You know what..I can live with that. They didn't fight me on the issue they just got it done. I like that. Customer service is A1 steak sauce!

Those mags are expensive. If I could have them make several marks like that on my Kahr and give me a mag for each one I'd take that deal in a heartbeat.

Glad you got your gun running and the free mag is nice. I carry mine almost everyday. It's light and thin.
