Just Bought a Colt Detective Special was it a good deal?

This is my first post on your forum. I just bought a old Colt Detective Special. It's serial number is 726XXX and from what I've seen elsewhere online it was made sometime in 1959. The finish on the gun is pretty badly worn. Looks like it literally was in someones pocket for years. There are numerous spots on the cylinder that the finish has been worn through. And the muzzle has the finish worn off for the first 3/4's of an inch behind the muzzle. Overal all the finish is maybe 60 percent. But there is no rust or pitting in the bore or on the gun. Cylinder play seems within reason on a used revolver and the timing seems alright. I doubt that the gun has seen much if any real use however because there is no ring on the cylinder that I would expect to see if it had seen much use. I paid $125.00 for it. Was I taken to the cleaners or was it a reasonable deal?

If non of you could tell, I was pretty excited to get it. Thanks for any response!

If a gunsmith gives you the OK on mechanical function & timing, you got a great deal. A reblue is fairly inexpensive (unless you want it as a collector).

I'd only be worried about the timing & cylinder gap issues. Those are repairable, but can run the cost up. But, if the repairs (minus the reblue) are under $200, you still walked away with a steal.

Heck, even if the repairs are more, you done good.... :D

Thanks for the respones. I appreciate your input. One more thing, about how much do would a reblue cost. And where is a good place to send it? Thanks again.
