Just bought a Benelli Nova!

I won't explain why, could take a while. But here it is, 20ga 26" barrel looking all black and modern. Later I'll get a tube extension and 20" barrel.

Now someone mentioned lightening trigger pull on this. Compared to the other two makers, this is definitely stiff. How is this done?

Thanks.

I don't know about the Nova but I reduced the trigger pull on my M1-90 from 8 1/2 to 5 lbs by just polishing , with a very fine stone, all the contact surfaces.Just polish ,do not change shapes or angles .If you don't know how to do this have someone else do it for you.

The first step is to determine the pull-weight of your trigger now. This is accomplished by the use of a trigger-pull gage (available from one of the gunsmithing supply houses, e.g., Brownell's). Once you know the current weight you can set it to whatever you prefer. The rule of thumb is that the pull-weight for a single-trigger shotgun is set at half the weight of the gun.

I do not recommend this as a do-it-yourself job. Save the money you would spend on a pull-gage, and instead spend it on the services of an experienced and well-equipped gunsmith. He/she should be able to do the job quickly and accurately.

Good luck, and good shooting!

As a quick-n-dirty pull test, I hooked my electronic fish scale to the trigger and found it broke around 6# or so. Seems a little high to me.

Hopefully my local gun store can fix the problem. At least it shoots nice!
