Just drooled all over the CZ 550 "ebony" at the gun shop. That is one nice looking rifle! I've shot the standard 550 some time back and it sure did itself proud.

then we have the new model 70. I Never had the pleasure with these new South C rifles..but reviews have all been good. I really would like to fire a few rounds before making any judgement call

Browning ? I know my BLR 7mm-08 will print groups right along side my Sako at 100yds..

Ruger? I've had good luck with my blackhawks and redhawks..but never owned any ruger rifle. Well, I do own their 10/22 if that counts?

What is the best package ( e.g... accuracy, reliability, ruggedness, etc)
 
This is very tuff because I like all these rifles. With the Ruger, you save on rings and mounts... however, the barrel isn't free floated like the others.

As for the price - 650 for the hawkeye ( with wood ,) 750 for the model 70, 650-800 for the CZ, 650 for the browning.

Add in my buying preference for quality American products - that leaves me with the Model 70 and the Ruger.
 
American Made, the Winchester Model 70 and the Ruger Hawkeye 77 are both American Made, the other two are not.
I have a Ruger M77 Frontier and love it.
 
I would choose the x-bolt or Model 70.I own 1 x-bolt and 3 of the new mod 70 and my experience with them have been really positive.
 
With the exception of one Savage and one Browning A-Bolt, the only centerfire bolt-actions I own now are Rugers (I have four of them). The newer Hawkeyes/Frontiers come with much better triggers than are on my Model 77s and MKIIs but every Model 77 I've ever shot and/or owned has been plenty accurate, well-made and super reliable.
 
Since I haven't owned the others, I have to choose the Model 70. I currently own a Model 70 mfged in 95/96 and really like the rifle. The other 3 have great reputations and I'm sure I would enjoy them but to choose right now, I have to go with "the devil I know".......;)
