his name is ranger winchester an im very excited about it picked it up for 250 very good condition i got a question i would like to put a scope on the thing but i dont want to take away from the gun i bought the gun for a pack gun and i enjoy the look of the cowboy levers style so i dont want to put a big ole honkin space aged scope on it i would like to keep it modest looking any suggestions would be great

I put 2.5x IER scope on Eldest's Marlin 30A ...... very nice handling, very fast, and precise enough for 30/30 ranges. Does not change the balance of the gun appreciably.

If the Leupold is too spendy, Burris has a 2.5x for a bit more than half the cost, which is what we put on Eldest's levergun.

You are still gonna end up spending as much for glass and mountings as you did for the gun ...... but trust me, it is worth it. You shoot with both eyes open and the crosshair just appears on the target when you mount the gun..... the hardest part is breaking the habit of taking the gun off your shoulder to work the lever......
