Noticed another thread about S&W 22 revolvers where the replys refered to the 617 with the aluminium cylinder.
Just thought I would let you all know that I kept the one I bought as soon as they came out, I have several other models of the 17 so decided to keep this one & use it.
It has had about 5 cases of ammo through it now (25,000) with no ill effects that I can detect. Still shoots fine And can't detect any more wear on it than on my stainless or blued models. I did make one consession on this one though, I only use the plastic bore brushes from Hoppes when cleaning it.
Will give another report at 50,000 (about 6 years away)
