July 9th.. Can't wait... suggestions on what to get.

First off I would like to say that I can't wait until July 9th. I want to get something now. Hopefully I can scrounge up enough to make two purchases on or before July 9th for National buy a gun day :) . Secondly what should I get? I have my bases covered with a nice bolt action and an AR scary black evil assault rifle. So wat should I get now? I was thinking about a semi .308 since that is the caliber of my bolt action. But I was also just thinking about another AR type or .223. Everything I get now is for three reasons.

1.) For the sheer joy of owning.
2.) To piss off people who don't want me owning firarms.
3.) SHTF. God I hope I won't ever need this reason.

I was also thinking about standardizing my set to match up with a few of my friends for various reasons. But that would mean lots of .223. I was thnking about a FAL for the heavy shot and cheap mags (god I love the idea of only shelling out $10 a piece) The other would be a G3 type but I can't seem to find a concensus on whether or not I can actually get one in a decent price range that is as reliable or more so that the AR or the FAL.

I know I can get a FAL from my local dealer for around $800 but the G3 range from $400 to $1600. (He has two Special Weapons last time I checked.)

Wat say you fearless friends of TFL?
 
I know you posted this under the rifle forum, but what do you have in the way of a sidearm to go with your long-range hardware? You might want to consider going in that direction.
 
sorry for my ignorance but what does SHTF mean...oh, and another: what does (i think it's) OHMG or OMGH< anyways what do these mean.

BACK ON TOPIC...i think you oughta get the AR-15 beacause if gun law start getting strict...and they will... on "assault rifles" the price and demand will sky rocket and the availability will plumit. you might as well save yourself the hassle and get the AR. I think the Bushmaster ES2 A3 is a great choice personally. Both in quality and price and looks. you will be able to get a bolt action much easier in the future because thay are used for hunting and are not nearly critisized as much as others such as the AR and AK's. hope this helped
 
i myself am going to get a Glock Model 22 or 23 in .40 caliber.
Remember if you cant buy a gun then try to buy ammo and gun accesories. also remember to tell other about buy a gun day etc. if you've been saving for a gun buy it on July 9th. If you already have the $$$ just have patients and wait for July 9th.

Unfortunately I won't be in the States to purchase on the 9th. :(

But I'll be there a week after. And if no one will object I am buying the following.

1. Taurus Total Titanium .357 for my wife

2. Ruger 10/22 for my wife and myself

3. Possible AK47 or Winchester Model 70 in .243 for me

4. .22 derringer for my wife "because it's cute" :rolleyes:

5. 1,000 rounds of .223 for my Bushy Shorty

6. 500 brass cases of .45LC to reload "have some fun with"

7. Possible but not probable Glock 30 for me of course

So if noone here will fuss at me, I'll buy late. ;) Do I have your permission?

July 9 buy

Forget all the small stuff. Get a hold of Anzio Ironworks in St. Petersburg, Fl, and order one of their .50cal single-shot receivers through your dealer of choise. That'll REALLY burn up the gun- grabbers, maybe cause a few strokes if we're lucky. Imagine the BATFAGs getting 4473s for a thousand or so .50cal rifle receivers on the same day. PS, I talked with the owners and they have the receivers on the shelf and they can be threaded for the M2HB surplus barrels...www.anzioironworks.com. Oderint dum Metuant.
 
I'll be celebrating America's reputation as the "great melting pot". Buying a DS Arms Type II FAL receiver and assembling it with other US parts on a decomissioned Austrian FAL.

It will be like me. Austrian by ancestry, American by birth.
 
Get what you like. But for around $500 you could buy an AK, 6-8 magazines and a LOT of ammo. And lets face it there are few guns that scare the gun grabbers as much as the villified AK.

In FALs the consensus here seems to be the DSA made ones. Avoid anything with a hesse receiver. The FAL is a HEAVY rifle compared to other 'evil black" guns and 20-30 rounds of 308 weigh a lot. Remember each of those $10 mags holds a box of bullets.

On the G3 side ther are a LOT of hesse G3's on the market. The "good' G3's are the Portugese ones. I think the receivers are made of stainless steel. Do ing a search on G3 will give you tons of information.

Even if you buy a .22, or a black powder rifle or whatever, make sure you AT LEAST buy ammo on July 9.
 
I jumped the gun by about a week or so but I got a bushmaster dissapator along with 2000 rounds of Georgia Arms and PMP .223 and a mossberg 500 with extension for 8 shots. I figure that should about cover me for gun purchases over the next few months.

In my opinion....Standard Grade Springfiels M1A and a few extra mags would be may first choice, I have one the love it.
Second choice would be a Bushmaster 16in Vmatch and some extra mags. I have one of those also with the ATN 5X33L Professional scope.
