Scary stuff.
Consider that Tom Clancy deals with such topics as espionage, murder, snipers, SWAT teams, treason, drugs, weapons - from knives to ICBM's, ebola-type viruses, revolution, etc. and sells millions of copies a year. I have every one of his books, would that be 'evidence' of some heinous motive on my part ?
How's this for irony - I recently saw for sale in a "Book Outlet" type store, a few copies of The Turner Diaries. I was very tempted to buy it, just to see what all the controversy was about with OK city and all, but I remembered someone here saying that it had no redeeming qualities whatoever. That it was not well written and was just race war garbage. I was still tempted to get it, because sometimes I just like to get inside people's heads, and see how & why they think the way they do, but thought it was not something I would want in my library. What if a houseguest or babysitter came across it ? Not that I'm planning on breaking any laws but what if the police were ever to come to my home, for any reason, and saw it ? It was enough to keep me from spending my money.
