Johnny Tremain

I just rented the 1957 Walt Disney movie Johnny Tremain.

I highly recommend it for it's Political Incorrectness. No sugar-coating history here.

There is a great line in it where one of the patriots (Dr. Wallace, I think) tells Gen. Gage, that free men will never give up their arms.

Movie starts with the Boston Tea Party and ends with Lexington\Concord and the British march back to Boston.

It really stirred this rebel's heart.

I read the book in jr. high. About the only thing my aged mind remembers is that it was about some kid coming to age during the revolution.

The Disney movie was really cool. Starred James McArthur ("Book 'em Danno"). Was done around the same time as "Swampfox" another Revolutionary War themed movie.
Anyway, yes its a coming of age and you experience it through the boy's eyes. The "occupying army" syndrome
