Jig For Stocks While Cutting

Looking for plans or ideas on how to build a jig that will hold stocks while cutting them at the proper angle. Just got a reply from Brownells that they do not carry anything, say the only ones
they have seen have been built by gunsmiths themselves.

It's in the first volume, pg 108. I took that a little further and made a jig with 2 pairs of wedges and a 1"x1" cross piece to act as a clamp. I mounted them on a 12"x18" piece of 3/4" plywood. George

I use a table saw and no shims. By loosening the 90 degree blade stop on my saw, I'm able to set the blade "Tilt" to match the stock to table angle, using a carpenters "angle finder", thus negating the use of shims. Set the crosscut guide to your pitch angle, and your ready to slice!

After cutting off, I switch to a sanding disc, without disturbing my "Tilt" angle. I then lightly sand the butt end to get it perfectly flat. Sears has 10" sanding discs for table saws. I've done probably a hundred pad jobs this way, and it works great.

Check this link on Ebay for a really great Recoil Pad Jig, that has a built in "Angle Finder". A very high quality tool.
