JIC?

I've been out of touch recently with the newest editions to the shotgun world. I happen to like my old shotguns a lot, and haven't felt the need to expand my collection until recently. I was looking for an all around shotgun, but I finally decided I was better served by buying a dedicated slug gun for deer and a different HD gun. So, I wanna know what the deal is with this Mossberg Just In Case gun. That's just one strange marketing name. Has anyone had any experience with this gun or would recommend it for HD?

the JIC is simply a 500 5+1 18 inch barrel with a PGO grip setup and a plastic tube with a junk survival kit...
If you may want a short shot gun in a sealed tube, it is wiser to buy a 28" & 18" combo and a separate pistol grip and make your own PVC tube and pack your own needed survival items in the tube. If you want a maximum survival JIC, use a 6 inch tube and pack a few days worth of MRE's and a couple hundred rounds of ammo in it.

Ah. I figured that the tube was just for safe shipping or boating or something. I didn't realize it had a "survival kit" in it. Never mind then. I'm just not that paranoid. I don't really need a pistol grip shotgun either. I figured that it had a shoulder stock in the case. I'm sure I saw another mossberg with shoulder stock at the store, so I guess I'll turn my attentions there.

Well, while I'm on the subject...

I've always shot shotguns with a shoulder stock. I can't think of any advantage to loosing the shoulder stock. Is there any? Even our issued 870s had shoulder stocks.

the tube is water tight but considering they get more money for less gun I prefer to make my own tube if need be...

PGO has a cool factor on the play range. No one will ever convince me there is any advantage over a standard stock or AR style stock with protruding pistol grip. In fact, I feel I have more viable shooting positions with a regular ol' stock over even the AR style.
Some folks may have reasons for the AR but a PGO will never out shoot a stock.
