Jewelling

I have a 3 screw Ruger 357 Blackhawk that is in excellent condition. It is original except for the jeweled hammer and trigger. I wanted to send it back to the factory for the safety conversion but realized that they would install a new hammer and trigger that would not be jeweled. Would it cost alot to have this done at the factory with my conversion? How much would a smith charge me afterward? I'm pretty sure my father could do it for me..what all would I need to buy for him to do it?
Any info. appreciated.........sixgunluvr

DON"T convert it, it is worth more without the conversion than with it. If you wanted the transfer bar sell that 3 screw and buy a new Ruger, you'll be money ahead. Jeweling for the trigger and hammer would run about $50 depends on who you went to.

Re: 3 Screw

In that case I would like to have a Ruger Super BlackHawk .44 mag stainless with 10.5in barrel. Would an even up trade be fair if both are in good-excellent condition?

I doubt Ruger would do it, since they don't (AFAIK) offer jewelling as a factory option. Brownells has the equipment; basically you need a drill press and a means of holding the work and moving it in increments, like a drill press vise.
