Come on folks even the most heinous ban isn't going to take away .22LR. I get the .223, I get the 7.62x39, Hell I get most of the centerfire stuff but .22LR??????? Is it really necessary to buy all of that?????

Far be it from me to interrupt the panic but its .22 for chrisakes.

Yeah, it's good stuff to shoot when the centerfire cartridges are in short supply. Works in handguns and long arms too.

Seems you're not the first one to figure that out... :)

It vanished four years ago as well. It has been readily available for the past three years, it seems a prudent person would stock up when it is readily available.

my favorite shop to go to has 5 pallets of 22lr on the floor right now... somehow I don't think they'll be selling out any time soon.

however any ban that affects an AR15 will also affect 10/22s(high cap mags), and AR pattern rimfires. even though anyone that has ever shot a gun knows that a MP15-22 is a horrible choice for a gun if you are planning on committing unspeakable horrors, I doubt the anti gun crowd would feel the same way.

It's to the point now that I might even consider buying those awful Remington bulk I swore to never buy again, but I don't see them on the shelves either!
I reloaded a bunch of .270Win and 30-40Krag last night. it's a good time to reload all the left over bullets from the days of testing. Like in cleaning house. ;)

I bought one of those ammo cans at Walmart with 1600 rounds of .22LR CCI Mini Mags in it for $98 back the first week of December. Wish I would have bought 2 or 3.

I also have four boxes of those Federal bulk pack 550 count. So I’m set just fine.

Passed up a box of 22 the other day. Kicking myself...that's like a half case of ammo. Might be on gunBROKEr for $500 in a week!

Not sure how long it will take the ammo shelves to repopulate but figure centerfire handgun ammo and 22LR will come back before 223.

Have you thought of getting a 22mag gun? I'm seeing plenty of that ammo.

This.

I haven't bought any recently, and I'd have to check, but I think I'm down to about 8K rounds of 22lr

For the past month, anytime I ask for 22LR or x39 they give me a wry smile as if to say "Have you been living under a rock? Get out of here, kid"

I notice the shelves are still chock full of 38, 17hmr, 25aught6, 44 mag, 7mm and 3030. I think the guys who shoot that stuff may be on to something.

Three priority categories that I stock up on, whenever its affordable:

1. Rimfire. I can't load that myself.

2. Primers. I can't (safely) make them myself.

3. Lead. I can turn lead into projectiles, with several different methods; but I can't make lead.

Obviously, people that don't reload, cast/swage their own bullets, or have the motivation to make their own black powder have a lot more to worry about.

Trying to help out a friend in New Mexico that bought a Sig Mosquito for his daughter, in November, I spent about an hour digging online for .22 LR this morning. With very few exceptions that may not have been updated, the only somewhat reasonable things I could find in stock were some Winchester Wildcat 500-round bricks through a major gun parts retailer ($34(?)/brick), and some Aguila 500-round bricks through a popular reloading supplier (actually on sale, too).

Seriously. I was at a gunshow a few hours ago, hoping to get some decent priced ammo in spite of the recent buying frenzy. They actually DID HAVE Wolf 7.62x39 for $6/20 (or a little cheaper if bought in bulk) that I got six boxes of for my new to me SKS until I can afford more. The last target 38 special ammo was Aguila 130gr fmj. And the only bulk 22 available in the whole show was the Aguila 20gr LRN and CCI Swamp people branded "Choot 'em" boxes of jhp. Couldn't find any regular 40gr LRN 22 at any booth in larger than a 50rd box. Who knew that when the frenzy started, the ammo I'd wind up shortest on was 22lr?

So that's what "choot em" is from? Didn't know that! Have heard of the show but had no idea who or what the "choot em" guy was about. Its CCI mini-mag so still should be good ammo right? I see that, the 22LR "AR tactical" (ugh @ tactical, I heard 2 young boys looking at knives throwing around the word tactical!) and the mini-mag stuff in the plastic boxes.
