JC Higgins 583.18 vs 583.20

Probably more of a curios and relics question but...does anyone know what differences, if any, there are between the JC Higgins 12 gauge 583.18 and the 12 gauge 583.20? Except for barrel length they seem identical. The bolt from the .20 seems to fit the .18 perfectly -- although, since I have no intention of ever firing this, I haven't checked the headspace which I would assume is different.

Do they use the same bolts, magazine tubes, trigger assemblies, etc? I'm trying to put together a complete gun for display purposes ONLY from some incomplete parts guns and would like to be historically accurate if possible.

High Standard

it could just be that one has magazine cuttoff and one doesnt.or plain barrel VS one with cutts compensator.

sears 12 gauge

That's what I found -- one had the magazine cutoff -- a small wood disk screwed into the magazine tube and one didn't -- although they were interchangeable. Probably a relic of some time when certain states had magazine limits on hunting shotguns.
I have no intention of firing this 12 gauge ever -- at 50 plus years old it is simply an antique -- and have left a message describing the issue inside the barrel for any future owners.
